Shimla Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anupam Kashyap on Thursday announced that the Shoghi-Mehli road will remain closed to all types of vehicles for at least three hours daily from October 21 to November 20 due to ongoing road-cutting work.

The DC said he issued the order under Sections 115 and 117 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 2017. The road will be closed from Shilgaon to the Sewerage Treatment Plant in Baragaon between 10 am and 12 pm and again from 3 pm to 4 pm, for the next one month.

Vehicular movement during these hours will remain strictly prohibited, except for emergency vehicles.

Kashyap also directed the executing agency to implement all necessary safety and precautionary measures to minimise inconvenience to commuters and ensure smooth progress of the work.
