Solan, May 2
Sirmaur District Administration said a new testing lab for coronavirus will be set up at Nahan’s Dr YS Parmar Government Medical College.
Sirmaur Deputy Commissioner said the new facility, to be set up at an estimated cost of Rs 1.18 crore, will help test swab samples in the district instead of sending it to Kasauli’s Central Research Institute.
The proposed lab will be set up in a months’ time in the basement and ground floor of an ayurvedic hospital that is part of the medical college.
Currently, there are testing facilities at IGMC Shimla, Dr RP Government Medical College (GMC), Tanda, SLBS GMC Ner Chownk, Mandi, CRI Kasauli and IHBT Palampur in Himachal.
When it becomes operations, this will be the sixth such facility.
Additional Chief Secretary (Health) RD Dhiman said medical colleges at Hamirpur and Chamba have also told to set up laboratories soon.
