People woke up to a white mantle in these higher reaches even as some areas continued to receive snow in the morning too. Rain also lashed the region in the day.

It is after several years that the region has received snow in the month of November. While it brought cheer to farmers, several areas of trans-Giri plunged into darkness for several hours since last evening. Power supply was restored in the day after more than 15 hours.

Deputy Commissioner, Sirmaur, Dr RK Pruthi, said two to three inches of snow had fallen in the higher reaches of the Haripurdhar area and the highest peak of Churdhar too was submerged in snow this morning. — TNS
