The SJVN has bagged the Swachhta Pakhwada Award 2022. Chairman Nand Lal Sharma said the award was conferred by the Ministry of Power to the public units for their outstanding contribution to the countrywide campaign Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The award will be presented by Secretary (Power) Alok Kumar in a ceremony on June 30.

Congratulating the employees, Sharma said, “Swachhta Pakhwada awards are given to organisations carrying out exemplary initiatives to propagate the message of swachhta among masses.”

This included awareness campaigns, special drive to encourage eco-friendly material instead of plastic, tree plantation drives, installation of dustbins in public places and cleaning up of rivers situated nearby projects area, distribution of sanitisation/personal hygiene materials in local

communities, etc.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
