The train, which started from Kalka at 5:45 am, came to a halt at around 7:44 am at Barog tunnel. The staff tried to rectify the fault without any success. An engine from another train at Barog, which was on the way to Shimla, was attached to it. The train resumed its onward journey around 11 am, a railway official said.

Meanwhile, another engine was rushed from Kalka for the second train, which had halted at Barog.

Constructed during the British times, the 112-year-old Kalka-Shimla railway track was included in the Unesco World Heritage List in 2007. The coveted tag, however, has failed to fetch any funds for its repair and maintenance.
