After a quiet Dasehra, local hoteliers are optimistic. September’s poor road conditions had led to a 30 per cent to 35 per cent drop in business, but Diwali is expected to bring a surge in tourist footfall and an occupancy rate of 60 per cent to 70 per cent is projected. To elevate the festive spirit, hotels are planning DJ nights and traditional Kullvi Nati dance performances, promising guests fun-filled celebration.

According to Himachal Pradesh Travel Agents Association president Hira Lal and chairman Budhi Prakash Thakur, advance bookings are being made from across India, particularly from Gujarat, Rajasthan, Delhi, Mumbai, West Bengal, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. The tourist influx is expected to help local businesses bounce back from the recent tourism lull.

Clear skies and sunny weather over the weekend brought a noticeable rise in the tourist footfall. Popular spots like Solang, Dhundi, Sissu and both portals of the Atal Tunnel saw enthusiastic crowds. On Saturday alone, over 50 luxury buses and 400 tourist vehicles entered Manali, a promising sign of tourism revival in the region.

Paragliding and river rafting have resumed after the monsoon season, adding to the valley’s allure. Snow-draped peaks glisten under the sun. Vibrant energy is palpable among local guides, hoteliers and shopkeepers as business picks up once again.

The pristine snowfall around both portals of the Atal Tunnel has sparked a wave of excitement online. Viral photos and videos of snow-covered landscapes are inspiring travellers to plan trips to Manali, Hamta and Lahaul.

At a time when adventure sports are in full swing and festive discounts are being offered, snow-capped peaks are just a short drive away. Manali promises a magical Diwali and winter experience — where the warmth of celebration meets the chill of the mountains.
