The beauty of Manali has blossomed after snowfall and tourists were delighted by the snow-covered hills. The mercury dipped in the entire region as the higher reaches experienced snowfall, while the lower areas were lashed by rain throughout night. The tourism beneficiaries are hopeful that this fresh snowfall will improve the influx of tourists.

Manali remains a major attraction for both Indian and international tourists due to its snowy landscapes. The region’s natural beauty and adventure sports opportunities, including skiing, paragliding, horse riding, snow scooter driving, snow sledding, mountain biking and snow tubing in Solang Nala, add thrill to this destination.

The snowfall has also brought relief to orchardists in the region, who have faced a long dry spell. The winter snowfall helps retain moisture in the orchards until June and is considered as white manure, benefiting the apple trees. Nakul Khullar, an orchardist and recipient of the “Award of Excellence” in the field horticulture, said the snowfall would be beneficial for the apple trees, providing the necessary “chilling hours”, which are beneficial to the crop during blooming and fruition.

Meanwhile, Keylong in the Lahaul valley saw about 9 inches of snowfall, bringing the normal life to a halt. The higher reaches of Mandi district, including Shikari Devi and Kamrunag, also experienced snow.
