The Solan Municipal Corporation (MC) today revised the rent of its shops after decades. While the minimum rent of Rs 5,000 has been recommended, a rate ranging from Rs 500 per sqm to Rs 1,076 per sqm was recommended today at the General House of the civic body held today.

Giving information MC Commissioner Ekta Kapta said several key agendas were passed in the House today. Ekta said taking over a housing colony of the Himachal Pradesh Housing and Urban Development Authority at Basal did not find the favour of the House. Another proposal to construct a much-awaited transport nagar also did not get the approval of the House as being a multi-crore venture the civic body decided to execute it if the state government provided funds.

Yet another agenda to permit 11 vendors to undertake need-based civil construction in the Saproon-based vendor market also did not get approval as some councillors felt it would leave other vendors in a disadvantageous position. Newly elected councillor Amardeep Panja was included in the biodiversity committee in place of Kulbhushan Gupta after the demise of the latter.

BJP councillors created some upheaval at shoddy work undertaken to erect the effigy of Ravan during Dussehra as a hydra machine had to be requisitioned for the purpose.
