The Solan police have seized property worth Rs 1.25 crore of five drug peddlers involved in two cases.

“The four accused and their accomplices, whose properties have been seized/frozen in the case, were involved in peddling 37 kg of high-quality cannabis. The accused are Jahbe Ram, Ashok Kumar and Sheetal Soni, all residents of Anni in Kullu district, and Jagwanti, a resident of Sonepat in Haryana,” said Solan SP Gaurav Singh today.

105 cases registered since July 2023

As many as 105 cases have been registered under the NDPS Act since July last year. These cases involve the peddling of large quantities of drugs for intermediate and commercial purposes, and 251 drug smugglers have been booked and put behind bars. Gaurav Singh, Solan SP

The property of Sirsa resident Gurpreet Singh, who is a drug supplier, has also been seized. In this case registered at Dharampur police station, heroin, opium and cannabis were seized from two students of MMU College in Sultanpur. They were trying to sell the drugs to other students when they were apprehended.

In five other cases, the financial investigation of the accused was underway.

While investigating the backward and forward linkages of these cases, more than 106 accused from other states, including 96 drug suppliers were apprehended. They hail from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Assam and Maharashtra. Among the accused are eight Nigerians, who were arrested in New Delhi. More than 36 inter-state networks of heroin smuggling operational in Himachal Pradesh have been destroyed. Furthermore, while carrying out financial investigation in these cases, the police seized assets worth Rs 1.25 crore.
