Dehra SP Mayank Chaudhary held a press conference, sharing key updates on crime control, drug prevention and law enforcement in the district. He announced the launch of a special awareness campaign, “Kanoon Vidhyalaya”, aimed at strengthening trust and communication between the police and the public.

The “Kanoon Vidhyalaya” campaign, running from March 17 to June 15, will educate people in gram panchayats and educational institutions on key legal issues, including: Cybercrime awareness: Online fraud prevention, social media security, and digital vigilance; drug prevention: Harmful effects of drug addiction and preventive measures; and traffic safety: Road safety rules and the importance of following them.

SP Chaudhary emphasised that this initiative aims to enhance public awareness and strengthen law enforcement. He urged citizens to actively participate in the campaign and help build a safer society.

Crackdown on drug abuse

From January 1, 2025, to date, Dehra Police has registered 10 cases under the NDPS Act. These include 4 cases in Dehra Police Station, 3 in Haripur, 2 in Jawalamukhi, and 1 in Rakkad. The police have seized 1.309 kg of hashish, 25.95 grams of chitta, and 180 opium plants, arresting 17 accused in these cases.

Efforts for traffic safety

To ensure smooth traffic management, body cameras will be provided to police personnel during Navratris and other important days. This initiative aims to enhance transparency and road safety.

Action against illegal mining

A special WhatsApp number has been introduced for the public to report illegal mining activities. SP Chaudhary urged citizens to use this facility to help the police take swift action against offenders.
