Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania said on Wednesday that Rs 22 crore was being utilised on various development projects under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme in the district this financial year, with plans to increase the amount in the coming years.

He stressed the need for extensive work on road infrastructure, education, health, sports and tourism sectors for the development of Chamba.

Pathania presided over a meeting to assess the progress made on development projects under the CSR. The meeting focused on aligning CSR initiatives with the development needs of Chamba district.

Senior officials of National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC) Ltd, including the Executive Director and the General Managers of Chamera-I, Chamera-II, Chamera-III, and Baira Siul hydroelectric projects, as well as the representatives of the JSW and JMR hydroelectric projects, attended the meeting. The expenditure and progress of the CSR activities in recent years were reviewed while project managers presented detailed reports.

Pathania emphasised the need for ensuring high quality work under the CSR initiatives to provide long-term benefits to the local community. He directed project representatives to organise multi-specialty medical camps across various parts of the district and prioritise employment and self-employment opportunities for families affected by the project.

He also called the hydropower companies to prioritise Chamba over other districts in the state for CSR-funded projects.Chamba MLA Neeraj Nayyar, Municipal Council Chairperson Neelam Nayyar, Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal, Additional DM Amit Mehra, Additional SP Shivani Mahaila, Assistant Commissioner to Deputy Commissioner PP Singh, SDMs of various subdivisions and NHPC Regional Office Executive Director Santosh Kumar attended the meeting.
