Speaker for quick resolution of public grievances

A district-level Public Grievances Redressal Committee meeting was held at the Chamba District Headquarters.

A district-level Public Grievances Redressal Committee meeting was held at the Chamba District Headquarters. The meeting was chaired by Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Kuldeep Singh Pathania. It was attended by MLAs from various Assembly constituencies, district administrative officers and both government and non-government members of the grievance redressal committee.

The committee discussed issues related to various departments raised by members. Pathania gave necessary directions to departmental officers during the discussions. The majority of the items pertained to the Public Works Department, Jal Shakti Department, Electricity Department, Transport Department, Education Department and Health Department. Other departments, including Agriculture, Integrated Child Development, Revenue, Forest, Social Justice and Empowerment, Food and Supplies, and Rural Development, were also part of the discussions.

In his address, the Speaker emphasised the Himachal Pradesh government’s commitment to resolving public grievances within a stipulated time frame. He highlighted the effective collaboration among administrative officers and committee members in addressing issues, particularly benefiting people from rural and remote areas by fulfilling their development demands and ensuring justice.

He directed the district administration to inform members about the outcome of decisions made in the meeting. He also encouraged committee members to limit their agenda submissions to two items per meeting to ensure broader participation and discussion. He stressed that the primary goal of these meetings is to address public grievances with seriousness and ensure timely resolutions, providing development benefits and justice to the people.

Prior to the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal assured full compliance with the directions issued during the meeting.

In a significant gesture, Speaker Pathania and Chamba MLA Neeraj Nayar announced their decision to voluntarily forgo electricity subsidies, following Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's appeal to financially capable consumers to relinquish subsidies.

The meeting was also Bharmour MLA Dr. Janak Raj and Dalhousie MLA DS Thakur along with Superintendent of Police Abhishek Yadav, Chief Conservator of Forests Dr. Abhilash Damodaran, Additional District Magistrate Amit Mehra, and other officials.
