Speaker lays stone of 50-bed health centre

Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania today laid the foundation stone of a 50-bed Community Health Centre (CHC) at Samot in Bhattiyat Assembly segment of Chamba. He announced that the project would be built at an estimated cost of Rs 21 crore and was expected to be completed within 18 months.

He said the centre would soon be designated as a model healthcare institution, with an increased number of sanctioned medical officer posts and the availability of specialist doctors. Highlighting ongoing development projects in Samot and nearby areas, he said Rs 68 crore had been allocated for drinking water supply, irrigation and sewage management under the Jal Shakti Department.

He also mentioned plans to establish agricultural and horticultural research centres in Bhattiyat, considering the region’s two distinct agro-climatic conditions. He assured farmers of improved facilities for organic produce like red rice and maize.
