Senior CPM leader and Theog legislator Rakesh Singha has urged Additional Chief Secretary, Health, RD Dhiman to deploy specialist doctors at the civil hospital Theog to give relief to the patients who are suffering for want of such doctors.

In a letter written to Dhiman, Singha said the civil hospital lacked a gynecologist, an orthopedic surgeon and skin and eye doctors for the last few months. The patients either have come to the IGMC, Shimla, or go to private doctors, he added.

Singha said the worst hit were women and poor patients who have to spend large sums on traveling for routine checkup.

He demanded that the health department should strengthen the peripheral health care facilities at Theog, Kumarsain and Kotgarh so that the patients need not to visit Shimla for small ailments. The specialists should be deployed at priority at Theog or he would go on strike, he warned. — TNS
