Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal presided over the weekly review meeting on Monday, wherein the progress of ongoing development projects in the district was assessed. He directed district officials to accelerate the forest clearance processes for various departmental schemes.

Repaswal emphasised the importance of timely execution of forest clearance matters and appointed nodal officers from each department. These include the Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry, the Deputy Directors of Elementary and Higher Education, the District Programme Officer for Child Development Services, and the Chief Medical Officer.

The meeting also addressed the completion of pending works related to water supply and electricity on the Sarol campus of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College. The Deputy Commissioner provided necessary directives to the officials of the Jal Shakti Department and the Electricity Board to expedite these works. Additionally, he reviewed the progress of the construction of the Nursing College building and instructed the department concerned to prepare the forest clearance matter promptly.

Principal Dr SS Dogra said that land has been selected in Sultanpur Muhal and departmental formalities are being completed.

District Tourism Development Officer Rajiv Mishra reported that the issue of removing driftwood and logs from the Taleru Water Sports Centre in the Chamera (stage 1) reservoir has been referred to the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) and the Forest Department.

Repaswal also directed the installation of informative hoardings featuring photographs and essential information about major tourist destinations and historical sites at Katori Bungalow, a popular tourist location in Chamba. These hoardings should also display important contact numbers.

The meeting included a review of waste management sites under the Chamba Municipal Council, construction of gaushala at Manjir, Apna Vidyalaya Scheme, AYUSH health centre buildings, and progress under various heads such as MGNREGA convergence. Directions and departmental responses from the previous meeting were also evaluated.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Amit Mehra, Assistant Commissioner PP Singh, SDM Arun Sharma, DSP Jitendra Chaudhary, Deputy Director of Agriculture Dr Kuldeep Dhiman, Deputy Director of Horticulture Dr Pramod Shah, Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry Dr Munshi Kapoor, Chief Medical Officer Dr Vishal Mahajan, Executive Engineer of Electricity Board Parvesh Thakur, District Employment Officer Arvind Singh Chauhan, District Tourism Development Officer Rajiv Mishra, District Revenue Officer Jagdish Chand, District Welfare Officer Chaman Lal Sharma, Principal of Government Industrial Training Institute (Chamba) Vipin Sharma and Deputy District Education Officer Umakant Anand, among other district officials.
