The CSIR-IHBT celebrated International Tea Day today. Tea planters, staff of the Tea Board, Palampur, entrepreneurs, technology partners and scientists and staff of the institute attended the celebrations via video conference.

Shri DC Rana, Member Secretary (EC), HP Council for Science, Technology & Environment, and Director-cum-Special Secretary, HP Secretariat, were the chief guest.

Dr Sanjay Kumar, Director, CSIR-IHBT, delivered a lecture on “Importance of tea & tea products for fighting Covid-19 pandemic”.

He discussed the importance of Kangra tea, especially its medicinal properties, and technologies developed and transferred by the institute for combating Covid-19.

On this occasion, herbal green and black tea blended with AYUSH recommended herbs were launched. These products were developed under the CM Startup Scheme by Paritosh Bhardwaj, an entrepreneur from Chauntra, Mandi, and are useful for boosting immunity against Covid-19.
