Himachal committed to land rights, tribal welfare: Minister Negi

Revenue, Horticulture, Tribal Development and Redress of Public Grievances Minister Jagat Singh Negi, while chairing a review meeting on the Forest Rights Act, 2006 at Gram Panchayat Pooh in the tribal district of Kinnaur, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to providing land to landless individuals across both tribal and non-tribal areas of Himachal Pradesh.

“To ensure effective implementation, Forest Rights Committees are being constituted at the panchayat level to work at the grassroots,” said the minister, highlighting the government’s proactive approach.

Negi emphasised that the Congress-led state government remains dedicated to the uplift and welfare of the poor and marginalised. “Legislations such as the Forest Rights Act, the Right to Information Act and the Himachal Pradesh Nautor Land Rules have played a vital role in improving the living standards of the common people,” he said.

He added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the government is focused on the holistic development of both the state and its tribal communities.

Earlier, the minister chaired a meeting of the Pooh Block-Level Grievance Redress Committee, where he instructed officials to promptly address public complaints and engaged in detailed discussions on a range of local issues.

He also presided over a meeting of the 20-Point Programme and Planning Development Committee under the Pooh development block, where he reviewed progress and sought updated reports on ongoing schemes and departmental initiatives.
