The state Education Department held a coordination meeting with the representatives of Penn State University, Pennsylvania, USA, yesterday to explore academic collaboration with the higher education institutions of Himachal Pradesh.

The representatives of six government universities and the representatives of Penn State University, namely Tina Q. Richardson, Chancellor, Penn State University; Anna Marshal, Director for Asia Partnership, Penn State University; and Vasu Singh, Adviser, Penn State University, India Operation, attended the meeting. Amarjeet Kumar Sharma, Director Higher Education, Himachal Pradesh, moderated the meeting.

Presentations were made and areas of collaboration were explored at the meeting and it was decided to frame a draft for mutual cooperation between the institutes of higher education of Himachal Pradesh and Penn State University. This draft shall be shared with Penn State University and after detailed consultation, the final draft would be prepared for the execution of MOAs. Richardson stressed on making small beginnings in the areas of mutual interest and then to expand collaborations in future.
