A state-level DAV sports tournament 2025–26 was recently inaugurated with great enthusiasm at DAV, Alampur, where eight DAV clusters of the state came together to compete in chess and wrestling.

Vibha Thakur, Principal, Thakur Jagdev Chand Memorial Government College, Sujanpur Tihra, was the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the event, while Kavita Kharwal, BDC member, Sakoh, was the guest of honour. The dignitaries were warmly received and felicitated amidst applause, followed by the ceremonial torch relay, flag hoisting, and march past by the participating contingents.

Sanjeev Thakur, ARO-cum-principal, DAV, Greyoh; Naresh Katoch, principal, DAV, Chalwara; and Ekta Attri, principal, DAV, Tiara, were among the attendees of the event.

Wrestling events were officiated by referee Digvijay Singh, while the chess matches were guided by arbiter Kishan Kumar.

Principal-cum-ARO Bikram Singh addressed the gathering, extending his best wishes to all participants and emphasising that games were as important as academics for the holistic development of students.

The opening ceremony concluded with the sports pledge. With cheers and applause echoing across the ground, the DAV state-level sports tournament 2025–26 was formally declared open.
