The government today accepted the demand of thousands of Swarn Morcha activists protesting outside the Dharamsala Assembly complex and issued a notification for the constitution of a Swarn Varg Aayog in the state. The notification was issued by the Secretary, GAD.

The activists held a protest on the first day of the winter session of the Assembly here. Thousands of them from across the state reached the Zorawar stadium here this morning despite barricades put up by the police at many places. Most of them came from Sirmaur and Solan districts.

The overwhelming number of activists came as a surprise for the law enforcement authorities. Chief Secretary Ram Subagh Singh and DGP Sanjay Kundu tried to pacify the protesters but it was only after the CM announced that the government would form a Swarn Aayog that the protesters relented.

He said the government would bring a Bill in the budget session to constitute a Swarn Aayog. However, the government later issued the notification. — TNS
