State to set up Rs 5.34-cr modern de-addiction centre in Sirmaur

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced that a state-of-the-art de-addiction and rehabilitation centre will be established at Kotla-Barog in Sirmaur district at a cost of Rs 5.34 crore. Chairing a review meeting with officials from the Social Justice and Empowerment Department and other concerned departments, Sukhu said the project will play a key role in combating substance abuse and supporting recovery.

The upcoming centre will have a capacity of 100 beds and will feature modern amenities including a library, gymnasium and sports facilities. It will also offer skill development and vocational training to help recovering individuals reintegrate into society. Adequate medical staff, including doctors and nurses, will be appointed to ensure proper healthcare services.

Sukhu confirmed that the state government has sanctioned Rs 5.34 crore for the project, with provisions for additional funds if necessary. He directed the Deputy Commissioners of Solan and Sirmaur, who joined the meeting virtually, to expedite the transfer of land from the Animal Husbandry Department to the Social Justice and Empowerment Department for construction.

Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dhani Ram Shandil, Additional Chief Secretary Shyam Bhagat Negi, Principal Secretary (Law) Rajiv Bali and Director Sumit Kimta also attended the meeting.
