Mandi, November 25

Superintendent of Police Mandi Gurdev Chand Sharma today asked the Kardar Sangh, Mandi, to stop violence in the name of deities.

The SP convened a meeting with Kardar Sangh over this issue. On November 6, two persons one elderly woman and one retired teachers were assaulted at Samahal village of Sarkaghat in Mandi by religious fanatics on the name of local deity.

The SP urged the sangh to include educated people in temple committees and tell them to refrain from such malpractices. He asked the Kardar Sangh office bearers to keep check on such illegal activity in temples of district otherwise police will take action against such people according to law.

He said the people of the district are also advised to report such activity to police so that action can be taken against culprits in time.
