As part of the nationwide Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav-Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (AKAM-EBSB), 53 students and faculty members from Kerala reached Shimla on July 25 for a five-day cultural exchange programme. Out of the 53 members, 23 are from various schools of Cochin and 24 are B.Tech students from the Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology, Cochin, accompanied by six faculty members. The University Institute of Technology (UIT) of HP University, Shimla, is the host institute.

Legal lecture on women empowerment

Seema Kashyap, Associate Prof, Law, University Institute of Legal Studies, Shimla, delivered a lecture on the empowerment of women in legal framework at the ITI, Shimla. It was a sensitisation session, which was attended by all faculty members, non-teaching staff and students of the institute. Kashyap spoke about various laws pertaining to women in simple words by giving day-to-day examples. She highlighted the need to prevent the misuse of various laws for the protection of women.

Environment activists meet researchers

Members of the Rashtriya Yuva Paryavaran Sansad Dal visited the Himalayan Forest Research Institute in Shimla. The delegation discussed issues related to forests and environment with scientists and officers of the institute, locals and youth of the area. Director Sandeep Sharma apprised the delegation of the activities being carried out by the institute.
