Students from Himachal celebrate Raksha Bandhan with President

As many as eight children from the state visited the President’s residence on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and tied rakhi to President Droupadi Murmu. They also gifted her the traditional Himachali attire. The meeting turned out to be an unforgettable and inspiring experience for the children, who were sent to Delhi by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.

The children, comprising four students from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) and four children with special needs from government schools, were accompanied by officials from Samagra Shiksha.

President Murmu highlighted the significance of the festival, emphasising that it symbolised love and protection, which could be shared not only with family and friends but also with the environment. She urged the children to consider trees as protectors and care for them.

The children explored the President’s residence, learning about its historical importance and unique architecture. They also visited NCERT, witnessing the book preparation process firsthand.

The meeting left a deep impression of pride, inspiration and confidence in the children’s minds.
