Shimla, December 29

Terming the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Shimla to celebrate two years of BJP government as disappointing for people of the state, former Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee president Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu today said the minister neither made any announcement nor spoke a word on the economic condition of the state, reeling under a debt of Rs 55,000 crore.

No economic package was announced for the state and Shah was silent on issues like problems of horticulturists demanding an increase in import duty and tribal status for trans-Giri people in Sirmaur, he said in a release issued here today.

He said on one hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was saying that the NRC would not be implemented while on the other, Shah was saying that the NRC would be enforced by 2024. He said the bureaucracy had overpowered politicians in the past two years and there was no achievement to celebrate.
