Sukhu: Settle pending revenue correction cases by Oct 31

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today directed all Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to settle all pending revenue correction cases by October 31.

Sukhu, while chairing a meeting of the Revenue Department here, directed officials concerned to launch a special campaign to settle all pending revenue cases. He said that pending cases were being settled through Revenue Lok Adalats and there was need to speed up the process further. He added that people should get relief from visiting government offices again and again and the revenue officers should pay special attention to this.

Sukhu said that the government was committed to providing facilities to people on their doorsteps and it was important to settle the pending revenue cases. He asked all Deputy Commissioners to depute a nodal officer in their districts to review the pending revenue matters and send a report to the government so that the pending cases could be settled within the time frame.

He said that for the settlement of revenue matters, the Deputy Commissioners had been given powers to fill vacant posts up to Naib Tehsildar and adequate funds would be made available for the purpose. He added that he would review the matter again next month.

Sukhu also reviewed the progress made on relief works for the victims of last year’s rain disaster. He said that the state government had released Rs 4,500 crore as special relief to the disaster affected and ensured full help to the affected families.
