Superintending Engineer urges solar power adoption
Ashish Kapoor, Superintending Engineer of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited, urged residents of Tauni Devi village to install solar power plants on their rooftops as part of the government’s green energy initiative. Speaking at an awareness programme organised by the board, Kapoor highlighted the benefits of solar energy, including the potential to eliminate hefty electricity bills and contribute to the national green energy mission.
The event, held to educate electricity consumers about their rights, also provided information on the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. Kapoor urged participants to take advantage of the scheme and explained the government is offering various incentives to promote solar energy adoption. He emphasised the state offers significant potential for solar power, noting several ventures in the district are already profiting from solar energy projects.
In addition to reducing domestic electricity consumption, Kapoor stated excess energy produced through solar power could be sold to the board, providing an additional income stream for households. During the event, he addressed several public grievances and called on wealthier consumers to voluntarily forgo their electricity subsidies to further support the initiative.
Technical experts from various solar energy companies were present at the event, providing attendees with detailed information about solar power plants. Senior Executive Engineer NP Abrol, Assistant Engineer Deepak Chauhan, and other board officials, as well as members of local Panchayati Raj Institutions, were also in attendance.
