Sural hosts ski competition to promote winter tourism

A successful ski competition was organised on Saturday by the Sural Tourism Development Committee in collaboration with the Pangi Ski Association. Held in the picturesque Sural valley, the event aimed to promote winter sports and highlight the region’s tourism potential.

Dr Naresh Thakur from the Department of Animal Husbandry, Pangi, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The competition saw the participation of 15 talented skiers, all of whom were awarded prizes in recognition of their skills and to encourage their continued enthusiasm.

In his address, Dr Thakur emphasised the untapped potential of Sural valley as a prime destination for both tourism and winter sports. He encouraged the local youth to explore tourism as a viable and rewarding career option, contributing to the overall development of the region.

Kuldeep Dhutwani, president of the Pangi Ski Association and the Sural Tourism Development Committee, expressed gratitude to the local administration, particularly Pangi Sub-Divisional Magistrate Raman Gharsangi for his invaluable support. He acknowledged the provision of 10 ski sets for the event and Gharsangi’s consistent encouragement of youth initiatives and tourism efforts in the valley.

The event was attended by several notable local figures and marked a vibrant display of community spirit, sporting talent and the growing momentum of adventure tourism in Sural valley. “The competition is a testament to the valley’s potential as a hub for youth engagement and winter sports,” said Dhutwani.
