The individual suspected of having contracted monkeypox has tested negative for the disease. The person, hailing from Baddi, Solan, had developed symptoms similar to chicken pox and small pox and was isolated as a precautionary measure a few days back.

“We have received the report of that person today, which is negative,” said a spokesperson of the Health Department.

198 new Covid cases

A total of 198 cases were reported in the state in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases today rose to 5,554 with the total positive cases till now being 2,99,521.

The highest number of 48 positive cases was reported from Shimla district, 32 from Bilaspur district, 28 each from Mandi and Kangra, 23 from Chamba, 16 from Solan, eight from Una, six from Hamirpur, five from Kullu and four from Kinnaur.
