Addressing a taekwondo self-defence coaching session organised for the students of Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University, Vice-Chancellor Naveen Kumar stressed the importance of sports activities in keeping the body healthy, and ensuring safety and discipline. He said the session had been organised for students to learn self-defence, discipline and physical fitness, adding that every student should take advantage of it.

Student Welfare Officer Ashok Kumar Panda said such sessions were being organised at the university for the last six years.

About 2,000 students had learned self-defence through the sessions so far, he added.

Taekwondo coach Somraj informed the students about the basic Taekwondo techniques— kick, punch, block and other self-defence strategies.
