Tension after meat piece suspected to be beef found in Solan

The presence of a piece of meat on the Rajgarh road near a shop created a stir in Solan city today, as residents feared it could be a piece of beef thrown by a miscreant.

Locals gathered in a large number at the place and demanded to know its source. A police team reached the spot on receiving information and examined the controversial piece of meat. They recovered a piece of meat and six bones from a drain near the said shop. Similar pieces of eight bones were also found lying nearby and three more bones were also found lying about 10-15 m ahead on the same road.

“A search was also conducted in a nearby dhabha where no controversial substance was found. Samples of eatables were also drawn by a team of food and civil supply staff. All bone and meat samples have been sent to the state forensic science laboratory Junga to ascertain the origin of the meat,” said SP, Solan, Gaurav Singh.
