Ashok Tewari, a 1993 batch IPS officer, assumed additional charge as Director General of Police (DGP), Himachal Pradesh, following the retirement of Atul Verma on May 31. Currently serving as DGP of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Tewari is due to retire in December 2029.

In his address, Tewari emphasised aligning the police force with the vision of the state government as his top priority. He announced an intensified campaign against the drug menace, aiming to make Himachal a drug-free state. He urged all police personnel to work with honesty, dedication, and team spirit.

Tewari highlighted the importance of maintaining the image of the Himachal Pradesh Police as a disciplined and service-oriented force. He encouraged a humane and courteous approach in policing to foster citizen trust and cooperation. Tewari has previously held key roles, including Managing Director of Himachal Roadways Transport Corporation (HRTC).
