Theatre fest kicks off with Kaun Mohan Deshpande

The four-day Chandigarh Theatre Festival began with Kaun Mohan Deshpande play at the historic Gaiety Theatre here today.

The play performed by actors of Chandigarh theatre group Ek Agaaz Kala Manch and directed by Aman Singh drew huge applause from the audience. The festival that is being organised by the State’s Language and Culture Department in collaboration with Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi will showcase four plays, including one by Shimla’s Sankalp Ramgmandal theatre group. On September 5, Hindi adaptation of Croatian playwright Miro Gavran’s play The Doll will be staged at the Gothic hall by the actors of Sankalp Rangmandal.

The play has been directed by Kedar Thakur. On September 6, Girish Karnard’s famous play Nagmandal will be staged by Satvik Arts, Chandigarh. The play and has been directed by Amit Sanouria and Sarveer Ali. On the final day of the festival, Parampara Arts, Chandigarh, will stage Ranjit Kapoor’s Ek Ruka Hua Faisla. The play has been directed by Abhishek Sharma.
