A woman and her two minor children escaped with minor injuries when their three-storey house collapsed at Gundaha village in Shillai tehsil of Sirmaur district this morning owing to heavy rains.

Deputy Commissioner, Sirmaur, Dr RK Pruthi, said the house of a 60-year-old Pratap Singh collapsed in the Shillai area this morning and their belongings were damaged. A cow and a calf were killed.

Those injured are Binita Devi, Nitesh (13) and Nivedika (1). They were rushed to the Civil Hospital at Paonta Sahib, where their condition is stated to be stable. The family has been shifted to a safe house and a sum of Rs 20,000 has been given to them as immediate relief by the district administration. — TNS
