Himachal rain disaster: Total loss rises to Rs 1,523 crore

The total loss suffered by Himachal Pradesh due to heavy rainfall, cloudbursts, flashfloods and landslides during the ongoing monsoon season has risen to Rs 1,523 crore.

The Public Works Department with the total loss of Rs 780 crore has been hit the worst, followed by Jal Shakti Department (Rs 499 crore), horticulture sector (Rs 27.43 crore) and the agriculture sector (Rs 11.45 crore).

Meanwhile, the state experienced heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places and light to moderate rain at many places during the past 24 hours. Himachal will receive light to moderate rainfall at most places till August 3, with a few spells of heavy to very heavy rain tomorrow.
