The state government today issued a notification to shift the office of the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) from Shimla to Dharamsala. The Managing Director of the HPTDC, Rajeev Kumar, formally took charge at the new office at Kashmir House in Dharamsala. The government has declared Kangra as the tourism capital of the state and as such shifted the office of the HPTDC from Shimla to Dharamsala.

The shifting of the offices from the state capital to other parts of the state is also aimed at decongesting Shimla, which is facing urban and traffic congestion.
