The Himachal Pradesh Tourism Department will organise a festival on the occasion of Makar Sakranti on January 14 at Tattapani which will feature water sports and ‘Sutlej aarti’.

The festival will be organised in collaboration with the Mandi district administration. This was disclosed by Director, Tourism, Yunus while presiding a meeting here today. He said the aim behind organising the festival was to promote Tattapani as a tourist destination.

On the occasion, 1,100-kg ‘khichdi’ would also be cooked and served among 12,000 to 15,000 people, he added. He said special buses would also ply to Tattapani from Mandi and Shimla on Makar Sakranti.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
