Solan, August 19

Tracing the contacts of Doon MLA Paramjeet Singh, who tested Covid-positive last evening, is an uphill task for the Baddi administration that identified only 15 persons today.

The identified contacts include a 22-year-old girl from Baddi, who cleared the UPSC exam recently, and her four family members who had met the Chief Minister at his residence in Shimla on August 11. Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Rajiv Saizal and Town and Country Planning and Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj were also present in the 45-minute meeting. The samples of all five would also be tested.

The Doon MLA’s family members, personal security officer and driver had been isolated, said health officials, who are taking into account his 14-day contact history. The MLA had attended several public functions and tracing all those who were present there is an arduous task. In the absence of any other information, the officials are following his Facebook account.

The MLA had inaugurated a tubewell at Narangpur village in his constituency on August 14 and hoisted the National Flag at Lehi village on August 15 where a sizeable number of persons had gathered. He had paid obeisance at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on August 16 and later returned home where he complained of fever.

While a few persons have come forward to get themselves tested, the MLA has appealed to all those who had come in his contact in the last few days to isolate themselves and get themselves examined.

Deputy Commissioner KC Chaman also appealed to the persons, who had come in contact with the MLA in the last five days, to home quarantine themselves.
