According to eyewitnesses, the driver lost control over the truck and it flipped on the road, spilling its entire load of gravel across the highway. Nearly 18 motorcycles parked on the roadside were buried under the gravel, causing extensive damage. There were no reports of serious injuries, though panic prevailed in the area following the incident.

The highway was completely blocked after the accident, leading to a traffic jam stretching for several kilometres on both sides. Commuters, industrial workers, and transporters remained stranded for nearly an hour before the Kala Amb police, assisted by a hydra machine, restored traffic movement.

Kala Amb Station House Officer Kulwant Kanwar said the truck’s brakes had failed, resulting in the accident. “Preliminary investigation indicates a brake failure. Necessary legal action is being taken as per procedure,” he added.
