The Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) Pensioners’ Association here today staged a protest in support of their demands, including allocation of a separate budget of Rs 25 crore each month for pensions.

The pensioners also asked the state government to make the payment of the first installment of Rs 50,000 of the revised pension arrears, which had been pending for nearly three years, along with the immediate release of second installment.

The pensioners also sought immediate completion of pension revision for employees who retired before January 2015. They demanded the immediate disbursement of revised pension and Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears.

During the protest, HRTC Pensioners Welfare Association Mandi district president Anoop Kapoor said when Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri were in Opposition, they used to raise the issue of HRTC pensioners, but since they had come to power they do not have time to meet the pensioners.

“Due to non-fulfillment of our demands, we have been forced to come to Shimla and stage a protest near the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly,” he said.

They warned to intensify their protest if their demands were not fulfilled soon.
