Solan SP Gaurav Singh said the report of Forensic Science Laboratory, Junga, had confirmed that saliva samples found on the girl’s body belonged to Dr Ram Kumar Bindal. He said the report had corroborated the charge of rape, besides other evidence collected from the spot by the police.
A chargesheet would be filed before the court soon, he said.
“The victim had come out crying after the incident and she had spent a reasonable time inside the clinic as seen in the CCTVs. The clinic which usually remains closed for outdoor patients on that day had been opened as a departure from the usual norm,” he said.
“The victim was examined without a female assistant. Further the register’s page where the girl’s name had been noted had also been torn in a bid to erase evidence and the clinic was closed soon after the crime,” added the SP.
The Solan police had arrested Dr Ram Kumar Bindal, a practitioner of ayurvedic medicine, on the charge of allegedly raping a 25-year-old woman on the pretext of medical examination at his clinic on the Mall Road in October. The BJP leaders had alleged that the case was “politically motivated mischievous act”.
Dr Ram Kumar Bindal was arrested after the victim had lodged a complaint at the women police station on October 8. The complainant alleged that she was suffering from a disease and went to Dr Ram Kumar’s clinic near the old bus stand in Solan on October 7 for ayurvedic treatment where the crime took place. He was later let-out on bail.
