Truck overturns at Jabli, cleaner dies

The cleaner of an apple-laden multi-axle truck (AP 39 PA 3879) died when he along with the driver was stuck in the cabin of their vehicle after it overturned at Jabli on the Parwanoo-Dharampur section of the National Highway-5 this morning.

While the cleaner was taken out of the truck first, it took the rescue team time to free the driver whose one of the arms was struck below the vehicle. Earth excavation and hydra machines were requisitioned from Parwanoo to rescue the driver. The cleaner was sent to the Community Health Centre, Dharampur, while the driver was referred to the IGMC, Shimla. However, the cleaner succumbed to his injuries later in the day.
