Acting on a tip-off, the police today intercepted a vehicle on the Pathankot-Mandi highway and recovered 2-kg charas from two residents of Padhar in Mandi district. They were on their way to supply narcotics to their local handlers. The police have arrested both the persons and a case under different provisions of Narcotic Act has been registered in Palampur police station. Palampur SHO Bhupinder Singh said that drug trafficking had emerged as a major challenge for the police and that a campaign had been launched in the district to eliminate the drug mafia.
