The accused, identified as Yatin and Sahil, residents of Kuthal village, reportedly called Assistant Engineer (AE) Gurnam Singh around 8.15 pm regarding a power outage in their houses for the past three days. At the time, the AE was travelling in his car along with Junior Engineer (JE) Sham Singh.

According to the complaint, the AE attempted to explain the reason for the power failure, but the accused allegedly began hurling abuses. Shortly after, a Bolero jeep intercepted the officials’ car on the Fatehpur road near Saholi, where the accused, along with others, allegedly attacked them with a wooden stick. The assailants also smashed the car’s windscreen during the assault.

The injured officials rushed to a hospital. Another JE, Pankaj Pathania, who was accompanying the victims, reported the incident to the police.

Nurpur ASP Dharam Chand Verma said an FIR has been registered under sections 126(2), 324(5) and 115(2) of the BNS after the medical examination of the injured officials. He added that the complainant has alleged the involvement of two more unidentified individuals in the attack.
