Two dead, two children hurt in Salooni car accident

The accident took place near Tikroo when the car plunged about 250 metres down a gorge around 8.30 am. The deceased have been identified as Vishal (38), a resident of Banjal village, and Nisha (27), wife of Amar Singh, a resident of Khalodi village.
Nisha’s children were injured in the accident. Two-year-old Parikshu sustained serious injuries and was initially treated at the Civil Hospital, Salooni, before being referred to the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College, Chamba, for further treatment. Ishu, 6, suffered minor injuries.
Eyewitnesses said Ishu was thrown out of the vehicle during the crash, escaping with only slight injuries, while Parikshu remained trapped inside the car. Local residents rushed to the site, carried out rescue operations, and helped shift the injured children to the hospital.
Police teams from Salooni reached the spot soon after receiving information. With the help of villagers, the bodies were recovered from the gorge and taken to the Civil Hospital, Salooni, where post-mortem examinations were conducted. The bodies have been handed over to the family members.
Confirming the incident, Ranjan Sharma, DCP, Salooni, said a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
