As per a preliminary probe, the dispute is related to one group indulging in illegal mining in a village where residents were allegedly intimidated with firearms.
Harpreet Singh of Ward No. 2 in Baddi lodged a police complaint alleging that four youths travelling in a car had assaulted him and his friend Manish of Sandholi village and also fired gunshots at them last evening. The miscreants also chased his vehicle for 3 km or 4 km but he, somehow, managed to save himself and reached the police station.
Parvinder Singh of Shitalpur village lodged the second complaint alleging that Harpreet along with five or six other persons attacked him with sharp-edged weapons and fired into the air last evening.
“On the basis of the two complaints, the police booked them on the charges of murder, criminal intimidation, rioting and under the Arms Act. A probe into the case is underway,” said Baddi SP Vinod Dhiman.
