Two policemen from Solan and Baddi have been awarded the Cyber Badge Award by the Director General of Police for their outstanding services in apprehending criminals involved in cyber crime.

Constables Jagdish Kumar from Solan and Hemant Kumar from Baddi police district figured among eight others who have been chosen for this award from across the state.

SP Solan Gaurav Singh said the Solan Police was committed to establishing a drug-free society and protecting the lives and property of the general public. In this regard, constable Jagdish Kumar posted in the cyber cell unit made a significant contribution. His inputs also helped solve criminal cases like murder where the accused have been sent behind bars. His valuable technical assistance involving analysis of social media accounts, call detail as well as internet protocol detail record has helped solve several criminal cases, besides nabbing 10 major drug suppliers, includes five Nigerians, who have been booked under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychtropic Substances Act.

The accused involved in child molestation cases were arrested from Agra and Mandi district through his analytical skills. Apart from this, in an online fraud case involving Rs 20 lakh, his technical assistance helped to arrest three accused from Haryana.

In yet another case, construction material worth about Rs 42 lakh was stolen from a trailer truck engaged in four-lane road construction work in Kandaghat area. On the basis of technical assistance provided by Kumar, two accused were arrested from Haryana and the stolen trailer truck was also recovered.

Additional SP Ashok Verma said that constable Hemant Kumar posted in the cyber cell also played a key role in solving various cases of cyber fraud, information technology-related crimes besides heinous crimes like kidnapping and murder in the Baddi police district in the year 2023.

Hemant Kumar has been working in the cyber cell for the last seven years. In 2019, he was rewarded with the DGP Disc Award, besides 25 appreciation letters for his exemplary work.
