She said that some women cutting grass in the area noticed the body about 200 meters down in the ravine and informed the local authorities. A police team from McLeodganj police station reached the spot and retrieved the body.

Aditi Singh said the body appears to be of some days old and showed signs of decomposition. The police believes that the man died three–four days ago. The body has been sent to the Medical College and Hospital at Tanda and kept in the mortuary for identification. The post-mortem examination will be conducted after three days, police official said.

Meanwhile, efforts were underway to identify the deceased man. The cops had circulated information to all the nearby police stations and were scanning missing person reports in Dharamsala and its adjoining areas. The locals and tourists were also being approached for any possible leads, the ASP added.
