UCO Bank pensioners’ meet held

The state level executive committee meeting of UCO Bank Pensioners Association was held in Dharamsala under the chairmanship of Sher Singh Thakur and O P Sharma, state general secretary. A reference book titled ‘Reminiscences of the Data Forgotten’ for bank retirees compiled by H K Aggarwal was launched on this occasion. During the deliberations, demand of pension updation in line with RBI and NABARD was put forth. The nationwide demonstrations organised in all major cities in the last few months under the banner of United Forum of Bank Retirees’ Organisations (UFBRO), was attended by thousands of over 60-90-year-old senior banks pensioners.

Most of the speakers spoke in support of major demands of pensioners.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
