The Una district administration has deployed men and machinery to prevent fire incidents, especially in pine-based forests, during the summer season, officials said on Saturday.

Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal held a meeting on Saturday to review the preparations made for the summer season and issued guidelines to the departments concerned to take necessary steps to deal with any untoward incident.

Instructions were issued to Forest Department officials to deploy vigilance teams and monitor them keeping in mind the possibility of forest fires. Jatin also asked them to keep the firefighting equipment functional.

He directed the Jal Shakti Department to identify areas prone to a water crisis and find a quick solution.
